Man dead, wife in hospital after car crashes into McDonalds on Lake Ave.

A driver died on Saturday after he lost control of his car and crashed into the McDonalds on Lake Avenue.

According to the Rochester Police Department, the 62-year-old driver is believed to have had a medical issue that caused him to lose control of his vehicle while traveling East on Lexington approaching Lake Avenue.

The car went across Lake Avenue and then over the median and sidewalk before taking down a pole and railing and continuing over an embankment into the McDonalds parking lot, where it struck another pole that broke a window and damaged siding at the location.

The driver was pronounced dead at Strong Hospital. His wife was also brought to the hospital, but is expected to be okay.

Neither have been identified yet.

No one else inside or outside the McDonalds was hurt, but Lake Avenue will remain closed for several more hours as RPD investigates.
