The Rochester City School District is facing an $18 million budget gap.
Tuesday night, school leaders talked about how they would close it during their budget presentation.
The superintendent says a big part of the problem is the state has increased the amount the district would have to pay out in tuition for charter school students. The superintendent says they are cutting costs by deploying educators from central office into the schools rather than filling open positions.
Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams says, "We are reorganizing departments, we're taking positions and combining them, but we're doing it in a very thoughtful way because we're looking at the individual that's in the position and looking at what else they might be able to do in the organization."
