Arrest made in local rappers murder known has Gumbo, real name Yasier Clark

Rochester Police Departments Major Crimes Unit in a released statement stating they identified 17-year-old Anthony Grimes as the person who shot and killed Clark.

Police say Grimes was loitering in the area throughout the night with a group of other individuals. Earlier in the evening there was an argument between Grimes and Yasier Clark.

"They were separated and dispersed. A short time later, Anthony Grimes observed Clark exit a vehicle and he shot and killed him. Yesterday afternoon Anthony Grimes was stopped by police in Auburn, NY riding a bicycle."

"He provided no ID, gave an alias, and continued acting in a suspicious manner.

Diligent officers of the Auburn Police Department reached out to a member of the Rochester Police Department after learning he may be from Rochester and lying about who he was."

Police also stated in a press release Anthony Grimes was wanted for the shooting death of Yasir Clark know as Gumbo back in June of this year. Grimes was transported back to Rochester, NY. where he was arraigned in front of a Monroe County Family Court Judge.

Grimes Is being charged with Murder 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon he will remain in a juvenile facility.

Police say this was not a random shooting. This was an isolated incident.

Gumbo, real name Yasier Clark has been in the community for years with his talents as a rapper and inspiring others. He was also known to have a close relationship with turbo another local rapper who was murdered years ago.

Early Saturday morning the Rochester Police Department responded to the area of East Avenue and Lawrence Street around 1:00am for report a person shot. When officers arrived on scene, they found a male lying in the roadway.

The victim is in his mid-20's, sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.

Police say that the victim and another the suspect may have engaged in some type of argument before the shooting occurred.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

The identity of the victim is 24 year-old Yasier Clark
