Buffalo New York mass shooting kills 10


Buffalo Police have confirmed that on Saturday afternoon a gunman, who was wearing body armor opened fire outside of a Tops Friendly Market. It has also been confirmed that the gunman was livestreaming the incident with a camera that he was wearing.

Buffalo Police advised that the male suspect drove up to the front of the Tops Friendly Market, exited his vehicle, pulled out a rifle, and began to shoot. The suspect was wearing body armor along with military style tactical gear.

The suspect shot four people outside of the store, the suspect then walked into the store where he was confronted by an armed security officer. The armed security officer shot the gunman but struck the bullet proof vest. The suspect shot the security guard, killing him. As the suspect entered the store, he shot several other victims.

Of the 13 people shot, 11 of the victims were black. 10 of the victims were killed. Three have been wounded and are being treated at a local hospital. The suspect was taken into custody by Buffalo Police.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said “This is the worst nightmare that any community can face, and we are hurting and we are seething right now.”

The Buffalo Police Department has confirmed the gunman is Payton Gendron of Conklin, New York.

The FBI is currently assisting in the investigation with the Buffalo Police Department.

Tops Friendly Markets released the following statement: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."
