False call causes Greece Odyssey School to go on lockdown

Thursday afternoon, Police responded to Greece Odyssey, school a report of a student having a gun. This caused a large police presence at the school.


Greece Odyssey school was put on lockdown, causing confusion for students and teachers.


After police further investigated, it was determined that a person called stating someone had a gun at the school. The phone call was determined to be a false phone call.


Greece Odyssey sent the statement out to parents.


Good afternoon. We are reaching to inform you of an unfortunate mistake that impacted Odyssey Academy and District Office today.
The building went into a lockdown at approximately 1:10 p.m. when a staff member mistakenly triggered a building-wide lockdown. The lockdown was lifted within minutes and together with Greece Police, security staff unlocked all classroom doors and reassured students and staff.

Greece Odyssey Students were dismissed from school as scheduled with no further incident. M

There are no suspects in custody at this time.
