House fire on Ernst Street destroys home


On Sunday night around 6:04pm Monroe County 911 received multiple calls for fire at 173 Ernst Street in Rochester, New York. The Rochester Fire Department responded to the scene. As firefighters arrived on scene, they noticed smoke and flames coming from the second floor. It took firefighters about 40 minutes to put out the fire.


The home suffered extensive damage. The tenants who resided at the residence were able to get out safe. The Red Cross is assisting the tenants.


The Rochester Fire Department is still investigating what caused the fire.
