Male killed on Jefferson Avenue shooting, second homicide this weekend

On Sunday morning at 11:56am the Rochester Police Department responded to the area of Jefferson Avenue and Bartlett Street for a report of shots fired. As officers arrived on scene, they did find evidence of a shooting, but no victims.

While officers were on scene investigating, a male arrived at Strong Memorial Hospital via private vehicle. Evidence on scene indicates there were two people shooting.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

The Rochester Police Department is currently investigating the incident and is asking the public to avoid the area for the next couple of hours. The Major Crimes Unit and Command van are responding to the scene.

This is the 36th homicide in Rochester this year and the 2nd homicide in 2 days.
