Man murdered at gas station on Culver Road and Merchants Road

Rochester police say a man was shot and killed at a gas station on Culver Road and merchants Road around 8:30 PM Friday night.

Police say after the man was shot, he was transported by a private vehicle to Rochester General Hospital where he died due to his injuries.

Pictures showing a vehicle that was also shot up at the scene of the murder.

Police say this happened outside the gas station near the pumps.

The victim was identified as 29-year-old Earl Thomas from Rochester, NY. He suffered from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

During the investigation, the Rochester Police Department arrested Robert Broomfield a 23-year-old from Rochester, New York.  Broomfield has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. 

The Rochester Police Department confirmed that Broomfield was involved in a verbal altercation with Earl Thomas when he pulled a gun and shot Mr. Thomas. 

Robert Broomfield is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail and is expected to be arraigned in Rochester City Court on January 29, 2023.
