Man shot and killed by Rochester police and sheriffs on Vassar Street

On Monday afternoon around 1:00pm, multiple local law enforcement agencies responded to the area of Barrington Street and Harvard Street for a report of a police involved shooting.  According to the Rochester Police Department, officers with the United State Marshals Task Force, which include officers with numerous local law enforcement agencies, were in the process of apprehending a male suspect who was believed to be involved in numerous incidents throughout the city of Rochester.

As officers attempted to take the adult aged male into custody, he ran from officers.  Video surveillance shows the suspect running through the Park Avenue neighborhood being chased by law enforcement officers.  None of the agencies involved in the incident have released detailed information surrounding what led up to the suspect being shot.

The only information that has been confirmed is that when officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, he ran from officers.  During that incident, agents with the United States Marshals Service shot the suspect.    The suspect reportedly did display a gun, but it has not been confirmed if the suspect shot at officers.

After the shooting, multiple areas around Barrington Street were closed off to the public.  Francis Parker School #23 went into lockdown.
