Man shot and killed in apartment building on Van Auker Street

Rochester Police is investigating a homicide that left a male dead.

This is after Rochester police responded to 100 Van Auker Street for report of a male being shot at 12:50 A.M. this morning.

Officers arrived on scene and they found a 22 year old male on the 9th floor shot and bleeding heavily.

The male victim was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounce dead.

while officers were knocking on doors and talking to neighbors, unconfirmed reports say police seen a suspect and chased a potential suspect in the building.

That potential suspect was detain they Rochester police officers.

Police found live rifle rounds at the scene of the murder.

It is unconfirmed if the male victim lived at the premises.

No other citizens injured during this incident.
