Owner of Morgan’s Cereal Bar talks about her business being impacted by the coronavirus

Geoffrey Rogers:

It has been nearly months since the pandemic of the coronavirus had spread throughout the world and we are here at Rochester, New York where who were impacted by the coronavirus.

Morgan:

Due to social distancing, there’s a lot of things that have changed.  Um, the first thing is the capacity.  Our capacity has been reduced significantly, um our establishment is already small, so um, we are now at 50 percent capacity.  We do have outdoor seating on the sidewalk, so that is awesome.  Um, it also, um limited the amount of traffic, um the new adjustments we made as we splash, um sorry sneeze guards for our bar and sneeze guards for table seating as well.  Also putting tables 6 feet apart.  So, we are just doing everything we can to stay in compliance, but the capacity change has definitely impacted us.

Geoffrey Rogers:

Is it difficult to run the business though?

Morgan:

No.  It’s. not difficult to run it.  We make it work.  With what we have, we make it work.  Um, we had to limited, limit dining times, so that we could accommodate more customers.

Geoffrey Rogers:

So that’s the changes you made, were limiting people to come in?

Morgan:

Limiting the people that come in and limiting the time that you could spend.  Before we didn’t have a time.  Yeah, there is a time limit.  Because we have limited seating so we wanted to be able to get as many people, as many customers to experience Morgan’s Cereal Bar.  So yeah.

Geoffrey Rogers:

Do you see ah, did you see adjusted increase of sales coming in since the coronavirus has hit?

Morgan:

Um, No.  I wouldn’t say.

Geoffrey Rogers:

(inaudible) well know bars

Morgan:

Yeah, I haven’t seen an increase in sales.  I know that more people are aware of the business now.  And they know that we are here.

Geoffrey Rogers:

What do you think of changing, you know maybe in the future since seeing this pandemic?

Morgan:

Um, we already had a cleaning policy in place and disinfecting policy in place prior to coronavirus.  So that hasn’t changed.  Um, I don’t see anything negative that is going to happen from coronavirus.  If anything, I am hoping that we can expand, um into a bigger place.

Geoffrey Rogers:

As an owner, did this kind of frighten you with the coronavirus?

Morgan:

Absolutely!   Absolutely!

Geoffrey Rogers:

What. Did it take you some time to think about it?

Morgan:

Um, it to us some time to think about it, but the safety of the community, and definitely my staff was priority and myself.  So, I didn’t want to get anybody sick and I didn’t want anybody to be affected because of Morgan’s Cereal Bar.  So.

Geoffrey Rogers:
