RCSD students sent to the hospital after suspected of being under the influence

Around 11 A.M Wednesday morning Rochester first responders responded to School #50 in Rochester New York for originally an overdose call.


First responders were called because 2 students attend the school were suspected of being under the influence of possible drugs.


The two students were since the hospital as precaution.


The principal Lakisha Taylor releasing a statement to families.


"I am calling to let you know that our school entered into a brief hold-in-place procedure this morning to allow staff to respond to three students suspected of being under the influence of an unknown substance. A hold-in-place is initiated when students and staff need to remain at their current location with limited movement".


"We immediately reached out to the students' parents, and an ambulance was called to the school. This was a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of your children while staff were assisting these students. The safety of your children is a top priority, so please do not hesitate to call the school with any information."


The district says "the ambulance were called for three students suspected of being under the influence of an unknown substance. This was precautionary measure to ensure the safety of these students".


GSL News spoke to one parent who has a student going to the school she says "it's a major problem in our community with drugs, now it's spreading to our schools. This is kind of scary"


There is no suspected criminal activity and no charges will be filed.
