RPD says final farewell to fallen officer
On Monday afternoon the Rochester Police Department and the Rochester community said their final farewell to Officer Tony Mazukiewicz. A memorial service was held at the Blue Cross Arena where hundreds of law enforcement personnel from across the State of New York attended. During the service family members, friends, and fellow officers gave eulogies.
One of the most touching moments during the service was when Officer Mazukiewiz's daughter, Bryce spoke. Bryce stated, “I’ve never imagined a world where he won’t see me graduate college, start my dream job at Strong, or walk me down the aisle.”
Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter along with Rochester Police Lt. Greg Bello also spoke, telling stories of Officer Mazukiewicz and his commitment to the citizens of Rochester and how he loved his job. Others called Officer MAzukiewicz a role model.
Officer Sino Seng, who was also shot during the incident attended the funeral.
Officer Mazukiewicz served 29 years with the Rochester Police Department and leaves behind a wife, four children, and three grandchildren.
