3 suspects in custody follow police chase



On Thursday evening just before 5:00pm the Rochester Police Department received a 911 call for a suspicious condition in the area of Portland Avenue and Norton Street. The 911 caller advised that there were 3 males in a white Dodge Caravan with an AK-47.

As officers were responding to the area, an officer spotted the vehicle on Lux Street near Clairmont Street. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle when the driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase through the city.


The chase went through the areas of Mohawk Street, Fernwood Avenue, Clifford Avenue, Goodman Street, Public Market area, East Main Street, Monroe Avenue, University Avenue, North Winton Road, and East Avenue, before the chase came to an end.

As the chase came to an end at 1600 East Avenue, all 3 males ran from the vehicle. Officers chased the suspects on foot. Eventually taking all 3 suspects into custody.

Officers advised that 2 of the suspects were witnessed to throw firearms as they were running. One of the suspects had an active warrant for their arrest.


As officers checked the vehicle, they did locate a cash register in the vehicle. Officers advised that the chase turned dangerous when the suspects were throwing items from the vehicle at officers who were pursuing them.

The Rochester Police Department is still investigating the incident.
