House fire damages home and injures firefighters


On Tuesday morning around 12:30am the Rochester Fire Department responded to 5th Street for a report of a house on fire. When Firefighters arrived on scene, they found smoke and flames coming from a 2-story, single family home. Firefighters were advised that there were multiple people trapped in the home.

Firefighters entered the home, battling the fire and attempting to locate anyone trapped in the home. Firefighters checked the residence but did not locate anyone. A couple firefighters were injured when they entered the second floor of the home and we shocked by exposed wires.

After about 20 minutes, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

No residents of the home were injured.

A couple firefighters were evaluated on scene after being shocked. One firefighter was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for burns he sustained to his arms.

The Rochester Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
