Off-duty Greece police officer kills her self along with killing and shooting others

On Monday around 7:20pm the Rochester Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance.  When officers arrived on scene, they found three females outside the home all suffering from gunshot wounds.  One of the females, Angely Solis, 27-year-old, was pronounced dead on scene.  A second female, Tiffani Gatson was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The third female victim, who has not been identified, was also taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition after sustaining several gunshot wounds.

Gatson, 29-year-old, was a police officer with the Greece Police Department.  She was hired by the Greece Police Department in 2018 and had made history by being the first African-American officer hired by the Greece Police Department.  At that time of the shooting, Gatson was off-duty.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Rochester Police Department, Gatson shot the two females at the residence, before shooting herself.  Deputies confirmed that on scene they did locate a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, which is not Gatson’s service weapon.  At this time, it is unknown what the relationship was between the three females.  Also, deputies stated that it is unclear who was residing at the residence at the time of the incident.

The New York State Attorney General’s Office is assisting in the investigation.  A spokesman for the New York State Attorney General’s Office advised that they are only involved in the investigation because by law, they are required to investigate when the crime is committed by a police officer.
