One dead and others wounded after shootout on Monroe Avenue and Woodlawn Street

Around one 1:15 AM the Rochester Police Department receive numerous 911 calls stating multiple people were shot. When officers arrived on scene they located two people who were shot and one male was pronounced dead on scene.

Two victims were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where their condition is unknown at this time.

The Rochester Police Department has not released any information on the victim that was pronounced dead on scene except that it was a male.

The Rochester Police Department stated that the incident began when a group of individuals got into a verbal altercation. During the verbal altercation, someone began to shoot, causing others in the group to shoot back.

It is unknown what involvement the victims had with the initial verbal altercation.

The Rochester Police Department is investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to call 911.
