How dangerous is Social Media for kids

Is social media really dangerous for kids.  According to a survey we did back in 2018 most kids started using social media when they were around 12 years old or younger. 

Most parents say they weren’t allowed to use social media because social media wasn’t out when they were growing up. 

Now on social media you can view very graphic things, such as pornography or inappropriate material. Apps such as "TikTok" and "Snapchat" which allow certain users under age to message anyone, which can be very dangerous at times. Most parents don’t even know that their child or under age teenager has made a social media account.

According to "KidHealth" There are plenty of good things about social media — but also many risks and things kids and teens should avoid. Kids don't always make good choices when they post something to a site, and this can lead to problems.

Besides problems like cyberbullying and online predators, kids also can face the possibility of a physical encounter with the wrong person. Many newer apps automatically reveal the poster's location when they're used. This can tell anyone exactly where to find the person using the app.

So is social media dangerous for you and should social media be used at a young age?
