Officer involved shooting, suspect down on Hudson Avenue and Fairbanks Street
On Friday morning around 11:15am the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force was serving a warrant on an absconding parolee who was residing at 107 Fairbanks Street in Rochester, New York. As the Task Force was serving the warrant, the parolee ran into a neighboring house located at 105 Fairbanks Street. As Task Force members chased the parolee into the residence, that is when members of the Task Force say the parolee grabbed a large butcher knife and made an aggressive movement toward them. A New York State Trooper who is on the Task Force shot the parolee.
State Police Captain Barry Chase stated the trooper felt threatened and feared for his life.
The parolee was shot once in his shoulder area and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The U.S. Marshal’s Task Force is made up of members from the U.S. Marshal’s Service, New York State Police, Monroe County Sheriff Deputies, and Rochester Police Department.
The New York State Police along with the Rochester Police Department are asking people to avoid the area of Fairbanks Street while the New York State Police conduct their investigation into the shooting.
